Laser-cut and machined metal parts leave the process with sharp edges, dross and micro-burrs that cut hands, scratch coatings and fail QC. Deburring discs solve this at production speed: flexible abrasive discs stacked on an arbor break edges and blend surfaces without changing part dimensions the way a grinding wheel does.
The 100-piece disc packs in 12" and 14" diameters are the working consumable — enough discs to build and rebuild stacks as they wear. The 32mm and 50mm spacers set the gap between discs on the arbor, which is how you tune the stack to the work: tighter spacing presents more abrasive edge for aggressive burr removal, wider spacing lets discs flex deeper for contoured parts and softer edge-rounding.
Think of the disc stack as a configurable brush. For heavy dross on plasma or laser edges, run discs closer together so each edge meets more abrasive per revolution. For cosmetic edge-breaking on parts headed to powder coat — where the goal is a uniform radius that coating can grip — open the spacing so the disc rims wrap the edge rather than attack it. Disc diameter follows machine and part size: 12" for most bench and machine setups, 14" where the extra rim speed and reach earn their keep on larger parts.
A hard wheel removes metal wherever it touches, which means dimension changes, gouge risk and operator-dependent results. A flexible disc stack conforms: it works the edge and skates the face, so flatness and tolerances survive while burrs and sharpness go. That behavior is what makes disc deburring suitable for parts that still have to fit, weld or coat after finishing — and it is the same principle behind our deburring machine line, where the discs do the work inside a pass-through machine instead of on a bench arbor.
Discs are consumables; rotate fresh discs into the stack as rim wear shows and keep the pack dry until use. If your parts are mostly wood or you are edge-softening profiles rather than deburring metal, flap wheels are usually the better abrasive family — same conforming behavior, tuned for wood.
32mm spacing for aggressive burr and dross removal on straight edges; 50mm where parts are contoured or the goal is gentle, uniform edge-rounding. Many shops keep both and re-gap the stack per job — it takes minutes.
Not meaningfully. The discs flex and cut edge material — the burr and the sharpness — while leaving faces essentially untouched, which is why deburred parts still gauge correctly.
